Q: Can I use sparklers indoors and are they safe?

A: Yes, most gold sparklers develop very little smoke or odor, and are entirely appropriate for indoor use. However, colored or crackling sparklers are smokey and are best used in a larger, well-ventilated area or outdoors. Whether you’re indoors or out, it’s extremely important to be aware of any nearby people or objects. It’s very easy to accidentally touching a hot sparkler to someone’s skin and cause a burn. If children are at your wedding or special event, they should be closely supervised.

Q: What do you recommend as the best size sparkler for my party or wedding?

A: First, make sure you allow enough time for everyone to get their sparkler and have appropriate lighting materials. This way all the sparklers will be burning simultaneously. Once they have their sparklers, have a minute or two for everyone to light their sparklers. For more dramatic effect, guest could have another sparkler in their other hand and they can light the other sparkler from the one that’s already burning. This will extend the magical moment. We recommend using a 10” gold wire sparkler or 10" gold safety stick sparkler for indoors or our 10" color sparklers or 10" morning glory or 14” morning glory for outdoors. Eight inch sparklers have too short a burn time and 20 & 36 inch are too bulky for large crowds and the chance of injury is greater.

Q: The theme colors for my wedding has silver, not gold as part of the overall color scheme. Can I get silver sparklers?

A: Current Federal Government Regulations do not allow the chemicals used to manufacture silver sparks. Therefore, silver sparklers are not on the market.

Q: Is it possible to paint my sparkler to match my party color theme?

A: Yes, sparklers are normally gray in color, but can be lightly spray-painted whatever color you want. Choose good quality spray paint, such as Krylon, and remember to use a light, even coat. Always try a test sample before the big event to avoid unnecessary surprises.

Q: Is it okay to put sparklers on birthday or party cakes?

A: A few 8" or 10" wire sparklers on a cake are okay, but don't overdo it. Sparklers do give off a small amount of non-toxic black residue specks, which may be noticeable on cake frosting if a large number of sparklers were used. If in doubt, hand out sparklers to everyone at the party instead of putting them on the cake. A really good sparkler for cakes is our Big Birthday Cake Sparkler.

Q: Can I buy sparklers, smoke items, and a few novelty fireworks on the web?

A: Yes, certain fireworks (legally, they are not classified as fireworks) can legally be bought online according to state and federal regulations. This is an easy and convenient way to purchase sparklers, smoke items, and novelties, especially if your event is not scheduled near July fourth. However, according to Federal Regulations, not all size sparklers may be shipped via USPS, UPS or FedEx and they cannot be shipped except by ground so make sure you order them at least 2 – 3 weeks in advance of your event. This allows them to be processed and shipped and allows enough time in case the get lost or something happens.

Q: What are "Morning Glory" sparklers?

A: "Morning Glory" sparklers are made in a different manner than common sparklers. Various types of compositions are charged into long thin-wall paper tube and fitted with a bamboo handle. The tube is decorated with bright colored wrappings. Morning Glories are easy to light but burn with a more vigorous effect than common sparklers. They tend to be smokier and are more likely to drop small glowing particles; therefore their use indoors is not recommended. Use them outdoors with care.
